Disney's Wilderness Lodge
Voted
the best resort on Disney Property also
considered the best themed resort by
our visitors, is Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
This resort was inspired by Early American National Parks Service
lodges. The lakeside lodge is an 8 story, log-structured building.
The centerpiece of the Wilderness Lodge is the main lobby.
A massive 82 foot tall, three-sided stone fireplace is surrounded
by rustic-looking, wooden rocking chairs. Four large tepee
chandeliers hang overhead and two 55 foot high totem poles
stand guard at the entrance. The multi-colored flooring was
inspired by Northwest Indian designs. A bubbling hot spring
originates in the lobby and appears to continue on outside where
it is transformed into a roaring waterfall that "pours"
into the swimming area. Follow the path behind the pool area
to a 120 foot geyser that erupts hourly from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Other perks of a visit to the Wilderness Lodge include: boat
service to the Magic Kingdom, special guided tours of the resort,
(one that concentrates on the architecture and landscaping, and
the other is a "Tastes of the Lodge" tour that allows
you to sample some of the culinary delights found in the lodge restaurants),
the Discovery Island Animal show, the Ladybug Release, the opportunity
to be the "Flag Family" (who participates in the 7 a.m.
American flag raising ceremony, complete with photograph and certificate
commemorating the event) and of course the front row seating on
the boat dock for the "Electrical Water Pageant" that
crosses Bay Lake nightly. INSIDER
INFO:
The grand fireplace in the lobby is a recreation of the
strata of the Grand Canyon. Over 100 colors in hues
of green, magenta, buff, red, black and brown are visible, as are
fossilized remains of prehistoric plant and animal life. From
the Vishnu Schist to Bass Limestone to Tapeats Sandstone to the
Redwall and Temple Butte Limestone and finally ending with Kaibab
Limestone and Toroweap Formation, the fireplace represents 2 billion
years of the time it took for the layers of rock to form.If you would like a room in a certain location, note it on your reservation at the time of booking. Then four or five days prior to your arrival, call or fax the Room Assignment desk (using the numbers at the top of the page) to reiterate your requests. There is no guarantee that all of your requests will be met, but they will do their best to accommodate where possible. Also be sure to list your requests in order of importance to you. The geyser has a computer-controlled system that can input adjustment for wind drift with its specific programming ability. ![]() SERVICES/AMENITIES:
