Disney's
Port Orleans French Quarter
The
fun and frolic of the New Orleans Mardi Gras at the turn of the
century, combined with the romance and charm of the French Quarter
is what you'll find at Disneys Port Orleans Resort. You check
in at the Port Orleans Mint that is designed to resemble a commercial
bank of the 1800s and the Cast Members welcome you at bank
teller like windows. Outside the check in area, the Courtyard
is flanked by the food court, gift shop and pool and is decorated
with Mardi Gras icons, a large jester and musical instrument playing
gators. The quaint little streets, reminiscent
of those found in the historic Jackson Square Warehouse area of
the French Quarter, branch off from the Courtyard. These cobblestone
streets are lined with gas lamp-posts, mini wrought iron fences,
hitching posts and iron benches. Beautiful landscaping accentuated
by majestic oaks,
pear trees and fragrant magnolias greet guests as they make their
way to the seven 3-story buildings that house the accommodations.
Accented by more lacy wrought iron railings, each peach, cream or
blue building has 144 guest rooms. Cascades of bougainvillea, glistening
fountains and strolls along the Sassagoula River pathways add to
the charm and romance of this quiet little resort.
Transportation to the Downtown Disney
Marketplace is offered in flat-bottomed boats that
leave the dock approximately every 30 minutes from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. and after 4, every 15 minutes until 11:30 p.m.
