Rooms
  Rooms at AK Lodge are divided into two sections. The
right side of the lodge is the Zebra trail section (which
overlooks the Arusha and Uzima savannahs), and Kudu Trail
(which overlooks Arusha and Sunset Savannahs). The
guest rooms at AK Lodge are similar in size to the rooms
found at Wilderness Lodge. Standard rooms are 344
square feet, while the deluxe rooms (including Concierge)
are 381 square feet. While the rooms are the same
size and basic configuration as Wilderness Lodge, for some
reason they feel larger. Perhaps it's the color scheme
(bright orange and goldenrod , with deep blue and mahogany
accents). The rooms are adorned with hand-carved furniture,
and no two pieces are the same. Each room also has
a unique Zulu war shield on the door, and again, each one
is unique. The rooms have basic amenities (soap/shampoo),
but do not offer coffee makers or honor bars.
The beds have very colorful bedspreads with mosquito netting
over the top for authenticity. The beds (and bedding)
are extremely comfortable, and overall the room was a very
pleasant experience.
Another unique feature of this resort, is the ability to request different configurations for your room. Rooms can consist of 1 king bed with a day bed, 2 queen beds, or 1 queen bed with bunk beds (similar to those found at Wilderness Lodge). If
you are fortunate enough to have a Savannah view room , you're
in for a treat. The animals come as close as 15 feet to
the guest room, offering unbelievable opportunities for photographs.
Each room has an animal guide which includes an artist rendering
of each animal found on the savannah, and a description of that
animal.
